Using an FTP program to upload and download files is simply a different way to transfer files. Depending on your needs you may find that using an FTP program is better for you. The other method to transfer files using BrickFTP is through your online web access account.

The screenshots below are taken from a Windows 7 computer, but the overall process should be similar to Mac or Linux.

  1. In your internet browser, go to the FileZilla website at http://filezilla-project.org and click on the "Download FileZilla Client" button.
  2. Click the appropriate installation file for your platform to download FileZila. Wait for the pop-up box to appear then select where to place the installation file on your computer.
  3. Once the file has been downloaded, locate that file and click it to start the installation process. (Depending on your computers security settings, you may need to click to authorize the installation of this program)

The installation is straight forward, however FileZilla has detailed information on their site here about installing it. Make a note of where you installed it so that you will know where to access it later on. You might want to create a desktop shortcut for easy access.

  4. Once FileZilla is installed, simply click the program's icon (or desktop shortcut icon) to start the FTP client.
