On this page, we'll show you how to set up your Mac so that it sees your BrickFTP™ user account as a drive. To do that, we're going to use 2 free software programs: MacFUSE and Macfusion.
Once everything is set up, you'll be able to access BrickFTP™ from any Mac program, just as if it were your local hard drive.
Please note that Macfusion operates using regular FTP (not encrypted Secure FTP), so if your site administrator has disallowed
regular FTP, you will not be able to use this method. Use Filezilla instead.
Also, if you are going to be doing lots of heavy file operations,
you may prefer to use a real FTP client, such as Filezilla, as they can be more reliable.
-
First, you'll need to download and install Google's MacFUSE.
Open the MacFUSE site. Then under "Downloads" in the left menu, click the link for
MacFUSE-x.x.x.x.dmg. (There will be numbers in place of the x's.)
-
In the resulting webpage, click the download arrow to download MacFUSE. Click OK to any confirmation windows that pop up.
-
Depending on your browser, the MacFUSE disk image will have been saved to either your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Browse to that location and open the MacFUSE disk image. Double click on the MacFUSE package:
- Follow all the installation steps to install MacFUSE.
-
Download Macfusion from this download link.
Depending on your browser, the Macfusion ZIP file will have been saved to either your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Browse to that location and double click on it to unzip the file. Then drag the resulting Macfusion application into your Applications folder.
-
Double click on Macfusion. You'll be notified that the macfusion agent process has not started. Check the checkbox to Start agent automatically
on login, then click the Start button.
-
Click the Plus button in the bottom left corner and select FTPFS from the drop-down list.
-
Enter the information as shown here. For Username and Password, be sure to enter your actual BrickFTP™ username and password.
Under Path, you may enter the path of a subfolder if you only want to mount that subfolder as a drive. Then click OK.
-
Your Mac will prompt to ask if Macfusion can store this information in your Keychain. Click Always Allow.
-
Click Mount.
-
If all was entered correctly, it will show that the drive has been mounted. Push Apple+R on your keyboard and the FTP server will open in a new Finder window.
You can now browse and access it as any other drive.
