Sharing Files

On this page we'll explain the sharing feature of BrickFTP, allowing you to easily share files publically. The information below is meant for the administration user of an account, as not all added user accounts will be able to share files depending how the administrator has set up the user accounts.

  1. The Sharing Tab: When you loging to your BrickFTP account, there are two tabs in the top-middle section of the page, one of them is the sharing tab.

When you first click the Sharing tab to visit the sharing page, you will see this screen; The information on that page explains how to share a file and provides a link to view past files that have already been shared. On this page is also the link to download the BrickFTP Uploader which allows you to upload files from your computer's desktop.

  2. Sharing Files:

When you are on the "Files" page and have a file(s) or folder(s) already uploaded that you want to share, the above screen shot shows that you have to "drag and drop" the items ontop of the "Sharing" tab link.

#1. Click with your mouse button and hold onto the file or folder that you want to share, then drag that item over to the Sharing tab #2 and release your mouse button.

  3. Sharing Link: After you have shared the item, click on the "Share" tab to view the newly shared item's link, as seen in the screen shot above.

#1 displays the new link that you can share so that others can download the files that you've just shared.

#2 explains the expiry date of the shared file. You can edit this time frame from within your account's "Site" page. You can also remove the link from being shared at any time.

#3 simply reminds you of the file or folder that was just shared.

  4. Review Actively Shared Links: When on the Sharing page you can click the "View/Revoke Existing Shared URLs" link which will take you to the page displaying all of your actively shared links (see above screen shot).

You will see which user in your account has shared files, the shared link URL's, along with the date the link was shared (not shown in the screen shot above).

On the right side of the screen beside each shared link is a red "X" which you can click to remove the shared link (not shown in the screen shot above). This will only remove the file from being shared, it will not delete the file from your "Files" page.

That is how you can share a file or a set of files, or even a whole folder at any time using BrickFTP, making it easy to let anyone download the file. If you need any help with anything that you see here, feel free to contact BrickFTP support here.
