Performance Tips

The following tips are intended to help users maximize performance when accessing their BrickFTP site.

FTP Clients

Tip: Set the number of simultaneous connections to the maximum supported by your FTP client.

To increase the number of simultaneous connections in FileZilla, go to Edit > Settings > Transfers and increase the Maximum simultaneous transfers setting to 10.

To increase the number of simultaneous connections in Cyberduck, first go to Edit > Preferences > Transfers and set Transfer Files to “Open multiple connections”.

Then, go to to Window > Transfers and increase the counter in the lower right to the maximum.

Web Interface

Tip: Use the Google Chrome web browser

For the best possible experience with BrickFTP, we recommend the Google Chrome browser. Chrome supports advanced HTML 5 features, like uploading entire folders to BrickFTP using drag and drop, a feature that is unsupported in Internet Explorer and Safari. If you must use another browser, be sure you’re running the latest version available.

WebDAV

Mac OS X tip: There are several gotchas when using WebDAV with OS X and Finder. Due to the way Finder operates aggressively with WebDAV, there are a few recommendations that we highly recommend. If you choose not to follow these performance optimization suggestions, you may get unexpected results.

  1. Disable .DS_Store over network connections. You can learn how to do this here.
  2. Disable icon previews. You can learn how to do this here.
  3. Disable ‘Allow uploads to overwrite existing files with the same name?’ on the configuration page of your BrickFTP site.
